📖 Encouragement for the Month

“I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”

— Psalm 91:2

🌞During the month of July may we take a look at this verse as being part of a powerful psalm about God’s protection and faithfulness. The word “fortress” is a rich symbol that demonstrates how God safely secures those who trust him. In biblical times a fortress was a strong, fortified place. —often built on high ground with thick walls to protect people from enemies. So, when the psalmist David calls God a fortress, it means:

• Protection
  God is seen as a place of safety from physical, emotional, and spiritual harm.

• Security and stability
  A fortress is not easily shaken or broken. This symbolizes that God is reliable, unchanging, and strong—a place you can depend on.

• Refuge
  It’s more than just defense; it’s a place you can run to in times of fear, stress, or crisis.

During this season as the weather gets a bit hotter let us remember to meditate on his word and pray his promises over ourselves and our loved ones. 

📰 Highlights

During the month of June, some of the ways JHS has seen “Your Tithes at Work” are we provided $31,186.00 in benevolence assistance to both members and non-members. This support included help with mortgage, rent, utilities and members counseling — meeting real needs and offering hope in meaningful ways.

And we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our staff and volunteers, whose hardwork and compassion made it possible to provide meals to individuals and families in our community. We also would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the counseling team, who remain ready, and available to support our members in times of need.  

The goals and vision of the ROCK initiative are steadfast, and Eastern Star JEWEL Human Services is honored to lead the long-term strategies and plans that support it.

✨ Closing Thoughts   

May we have confidence in knowing that God is our unbreakable safe place—strong, dependable, and always able to protect. May this summer be filled with light, and joy. As the sun shines brightly, may it remind us of the goodness of God that surrounds us daily. Let this be a time to rest, grow, and reconnect with our purpose, and our faith.
