FUNERALS

Greetings Church Family,

The Bible teaches in I Thessalonians 4:13 “But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.” (NRSV).  Eastern Star Church acknowledges that the grief associated with the death of a loved one can be very painful and therefore we want to come alongside our members during this difficult time.

If your family has experienced the death of a family member, please contact the Eastern Star Church Exhortation Manager, Rev. Myra Whitaker at (317) 591-5050 Ext. 140, or by email at mwhitaker@easternstarchurch.org.

If your deceased loved one was a member of Eastern Star Church, we can host the funeral onsite and the Exhortation Manager will discuss available dates to hold the service. Please note the following

  •  We host funerals on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays

  •  We do not hold funeral services on the weekends (Saturday or Sunday)

  •  All funeral services follow the same format: Viewing from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the service immediately following from 11 a.m. to Noon

Senior Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson, Sr. officiates funeral services given his schedule permits. In the event that he is not available, the Exhortation Manager will help secure another minister of the church to officiate the service in Pastor's stead.

Regarding hosting a repast, this depends on the number of individuals we would have to accommodate. In addition, we would need to check the availability of our repast team.

Losing a loved one can be hard but God’s word assures us: “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest,” (Matt. 11:28, NIV) and “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. (Psalm 147:3, NIV).

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact the Exhortation Manager at (317) 591-5050, Ext. 140.
