My life was stuck like a traffic jam
The lights were all red I don’t know who I am
I looked in the mirror to see if I could exit
But all it reflected was my life.
There were no exit ramps, detours, or bends
And in the mirror it revealed my sins
The earthly things I choose to believe
Like the word forgiveness was all about me.
I went to church and I paid my tithes
So who was in the mirror I didn’t recognize
Then it dawned on me what the pastor said
You can sit in a pew and not get fed.
I smiled so bright… I looked so fresh
No one saw my pain from my outside dress…
But now I’m stuck and thank God for jams
A moment of reflection revealed who I am.
