2008 GUIDELINES

GENERAL INFORMATION

Eastern Star Church (ESC) Scholarships are:
• Awarded to ESC high school seniors entering a college/university
• Available for an academic year
• Awarded ONE TIME a year
• First priority given to High School seniors then reapplying students considered

CRITERIA FOR APPLYING

HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS
1. Must be a member of Eastern Star for a minimum of one year at the time of application.
2. Must have attained at least a 2.0 grade point average on 4.0 scale.
3. Applicants must provide an original transcript from their high school. An original transcript is
obtained from the guidance counselor or school office. No report cards, progress reports,
photo copies, faxes, or hand delivered documents will be accepted.
4. Must be admitted to a degree-seeking program for fall 2008 (Applicant must provide an official
letter of acceptance from college/university.)
5. Must be enrolled in at least twelve credit hours for fall semester in college.

COLLEGE STUDENTS REAPPLYING
1. Must be a member of Eastern Star Church at time of application.
2. Must have received an Eastern Star scholarship award in previous year.
3. Must have attained at least a 2.0 grade point average on 4.0 scale.
4. Applicant must provide an original transcript from college/university. An original transcript is
obtained from the School Registrar’s Office. No report cards, progress reports, photo copies,
faxes, or hand delivered documents will be accepted.
5. If applicant transfers to another college/university, applicant must submit a letter of acceptance from
new college/university.
6. Must be enrolled in at least twelve credit hours for fall semester.

HOW TO SEND INFORMATION TO SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE

1. Applicant must send all required documents in ONE PACKAGE. (Scholarship committee will not
accept application materials that are mailed separately, hand delivered, dropped off at the front
desk, etc. All application packets must be mailed.)
2. Applicant must mail completed application packet postmarked by June 30, 2008. NO EXCEPTIONS.
3. Applicant must mail completed application packet to the following address:

Please Note: It is recommended that you mail completed scholarship package by certified mail so that you will have a receipt for your records.
