When we observe Martin Luther King’s birthday (Monday, January 17th), we also can’t help but think about the Civil Rights Movement. Martin Luther King, Jr. was so integral to the progress of civil rights for African Americans in the United States. Through speeches, organized marches, sit ins, and other peaceful protests, people from all over the world raised the banner of injustice, demanding that unjust laws and practices be changed. Many laws have been changed, and more are changing but there is still work to do to treat people fairly in our country and around the world.
